Work with Us

Help needed February – October 2026

Who we need:

If you are energized by nature and wildlife you will find this place as magical as we do and never want to leave.  We need someone who has a good attitude, is motivated to help and willing to be flexible depending on the weather and jobs needed. Cleanliness is a must as we are sharing a space and need to be respectful of each other as well as the surroundings. There is a one-week trial period where we see if it is a good fit for all parties included, after that, you are welcome as long as there is work to be done that you are willing to assist with. Need someone who is able to self manage while Kristi is off site transporting guests on the boat.  Looking for a NON-smoker, tobacco use is not allowed on site.

General Scope of Work:

February to May is shoulder season where we have limited booking and see more local Alaskans. Tasks will include organizing linens and supplies for cabins, cleaning, tech support, hauling gravel, light labor such as cutting wood, hauling water, sanding and varnishing along with other general assistance getting the property ready for the summer season.

May – Oct is our busy season with frequent guest turn over.

During this time we need someone who is able to keep track of the calendar, keeping an eye on when cabins will need to be cleaned and prepared for a new set of guests. There will be times where you will assist with check in, making sure to explain property rules and how things work staying at an eco friendly lodge off the main road system.

Tasks will include general property upkeep, cleaning such as laundry, sweeping floors, washing windows, making sure the jacuzzi has the right chemical balance and stays sand free. Light labor such as chopping wood, carrying luggage, assisting guests with the sauna is also needed some days.

During the summer we ask that you work 6 days a week, but the days are broken up allowing for your own time to explore. With proper time management skills and planning, we’ve found many people work an average of 30 hours a week. Kristi, the owner, will never ask anyone to do a task that she hasn’t done or isn’t willing to do herself. Running a remote lodge takes a hardworking team with careful attention to details to ensure supplies aren’t depleted.

Housing

Housing is included as are two meals a day. I will provide basic food during your stay but please note it is difficult for me to get ahold of fresh produce so you may want to pick some up in Homer before you arrive – additionally if you have any dietary requirements please bring what you need and any adult beverages and snacks you may want.

If you join us in the slow off season we will provide you with your own cozy beachfront cabin with cooking facilities, wonderful views and an outhouse.  If you join us in summer there will be a bedroom for you in the main house.

Please note during the winter months having running water is dependent on us hauling water to the property and filling the tanks. We do have electricity, WIFI, and good phone signal all year round.

Trips to Seldovia are limited, however, there is a taxi service available to utilize if you want to go into the village outside business trips.

Pay is negotiable, please let us know if you are interested so we can schedule a conversation.

PERKS

Depending on what season you choose to spend with us will depend on what activities are available to you. Our sauna is usable year round, (to use the sauna you will need to be capable of building a small fire, and we fill up the water jugs (buckets) from a nearby creek), as is the jacuzzi, so long as it is able to be filled with water.

During the darker months you have the opportunity to see the northern lights, while during the summer you get to experience the Alaska sunshine all day. During the fall we are often able to see bioluminescence (the water glows and sparkles blue when you touch it at night!) All year round you can watch the eagles soaring above as well as watching them feed up close. In addition to the eagle viewing you can also get a good look at the sea otters that call Kasitsna Bay home, often catching a glimpse of the young pups and larger rafts.

The summer brings opportunities such as utilizing the stand up paddle boards, kayaks, going fishing, mushroom foraging, tide pooling, amazing sunset beach fires and relaxing in one of the many hammocks set up around the property.  If weather and timing allow you may also get to explore a glacier up close. We do ask that if you come alone that you find a kayak, row boat or sup partner before venturing off shore or out of the lagoon. Kayaking with whales is my favorite!!

Single workers can kayak, rowboat or sup-board right along the shore, only for safety reasons.  There are other adventures available for those looking to experience all that Alaska has to offer. We are happy to share recommendations and facilitate introductions, just let us know what you are looking for.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have more questions.  Hope to hear from you soon!
